I lost my job last month, before that whole 'Missionworth' debacle.

Seems my boss didn't mind 3-week long unexplained absences. It was the explanations that drove him nuts. The weird things that happen to newcomers on a regular basis. "I switched bodies with a guy who can't fix cars. I turned into a snowman." [His tone is wry and self-deprecating.] We all have our limitations, I guess.

Even at its worst, though, this city gives us choices. They may not be very attractive options, but they're there.
